We are asking for your help to better understand why some people who could benefit from support for alcohol use do not come forward.

Somerset Council has launched a short, anonymous survey to gather insight into the barriers people face when accessing support from Somerset Drug and Alcohol Service (SDAS), delivered by Turning Point. The findings will be used to shape how services are designed and delivered in the future.

As a thank you, you will be entered into a prize draw to win a £25 Love to Shop voucher.

Why this matters for carers and families

Caring for a child or adult with special educational needs can bring unique pressures. For some, alcohol may become part of how they cope with stress, exhaustion or isolation.

At the same time, finding time, space or confidence to seek support can feel difficult. Concerns about stigma, being judged, or the impact on family life may also play a part.

We want to better understand these real-life challenges so that support works for carers and families, not against them.

Your insight matters

You can complete the survey:

  • about your own experience, or
  • about someone you know, such as a partner, family member or friend
  • Participants in the survey must be at least eighteen years old

We are particularly keen to hear about situations where support has not been accessed, as this helps us understand what gets in the way.

Anonymous and confidential

All responses are anonymous and confidential. We cannot identify you or anyone you are responding about, so you can answer honestly and safely.

A small step that can make a difference

The survey takes just a few minutes to complete, but your insight could help shape services that are more flexible, understanding and accessible for carers and families.

Take part and share

If you feel comfortable, please take a few minutes to complete the survey and consider sharing it with other carers or support networks.
