Somerset Council’s highways team is carrying out urgent repairs to a section of the A39 between Nether Stowey and Cannington.

The surface dressing work is due to start on Tuesday 8 August and will last for up to three days. The road between various locations in that immediate area from 9.30am to about 3.30pm each day to ensure the safety of the public and the workforce.

The road will remain open outside these times to minimise disruption.

Councillor Mike Rigby, Somerset Council’s Executive Lead Member for Transport and Digital, said:

Surface dressing is an important part of our annual summer programme.

All the motorists who use this busy stretch of road will benefit in the long term from this work taking place. Thank you for your patience, should you experience any short-term disruption.

Pedestrian access for residents and businesses in the immediate area will be maintained throughout and a diversion will be in place. Access will remain for emergency services and large HGVs during the hours of closure.
