Who can benefit from the Inclusion Advice Line?

The Inclusion Advice Line (IAL) is designed to support a wide range of professionals working in educational settings, including SENCOs and other school professionals.

How does it work?

When you call the 0300 123 2224, please ensure you say ‘Inclusion Advice Line’ when prompted, so you are routed through to the Inclusion Advice Line.

Our advisors will then guide you through a series of questions, so please allow some time for this process. Please provide as much information as possible: the child’s name, date of birth, and relevant details if possible. You will be asked to provide brief details about the current situation, and what has already been done, particularly with regards to the Somerset Graduated Response Tool, and any involvements or advice from external professionals.

Our goal is to offer immediate support and guidance during your call. However, for more complex issues, your query may be forwarded to our Specialist Advisor for triage. In such cases, you’ll be contacted to discuss support options further. This could involve a follow-up call from an advisory teacher for a more thorough discussion and planning of next steps.

While we try to answer all calls promptly, there may be occasions of high call volumes. If this happens, please leave a message on our voicemail, briefly outlining the reason for your call, along with the name and date of birth of the young person if appropriate. Please also leave your contact number, email address, and availability, and an advisor will try to get back to you as soon as possible.

Exciting Updates for 2024!

We are thrilled to announce that we’ve expanded our support services to include assistance with post-16 queries. Whether you need general SEND advice or guidance and signposting for young people transitioning into further education, we’re here to help.

The Inclusion Advice line number is 0300 123 2224.
