Residents across Somerset are being urged to take part in a short, anonymous survey exploring why some people who could benefit from support for alcohol use do not come forward, before the closing date of 12 July.

Somerset Council is working with Somerset Drug and Alcohol Service (SDAS), delivered by Turning Point, to better understand the real-life barriers that prevent people from accessing support. The findings will be used to shape how services are designed and delivered in the future.
The survey is open to anyone aged 18 and over living in Somerset and can be completed either about your own experience or about someone you know, such as a friend, family member or someone you support.
A spokesperson from Somerset Council said:
“Over the past few weeks, people across Somerset have been sharing their experiences and helping us build a clearer picture of what gets in the way of accessing alcohol support.
“As we approach the closing date, we are encouraging anyone who has not yet taken part to do so. Even a few minutes can make a real difference to how services are shaped in the future.
“We are particularly keen to hear from people who may have experience of alcohol problems where support has not been accessed, as this insight is essential in helping us understand what needs to change.”
The survey is completely anonymous and confidential. No individual can be identified from the information provided, allowing people to share their views openly and honestly.
It takes just a few minutes to complete, and every response helps build a more accurate and representative picture of the challenges people face.
