In February Youth Forum met to discuss communities, what they see to help young people not get involved in dangerous or illegal activities, what things to do and places to go are in their communities and what schools and colleges are doing to help them attend school. We invited young people from across the county to participate in the event.

The participating young people really got stuck into this subject, giving us lots of opinions, suggestions and experiences from their local communities, as well as schools and colleges. They let us know what support and activities were available for them, but also let us know where there are gaps or specific issues that they felt needed to be addressed.

We collected the findings from this event into a presentation that has been shared with services across the county and will help shape those services to better support young people as they grow.
Youth Forum is a youth voice group for young people in Somerset aged 11-18 years (or up to 25 for young people with SEND) that meets monthly over Teams, where young people have the opportunity to have a say, to challenge and influence decisions, services and processes that affect or are important to them.

If you are or if you know a young person who’d be interested in getting their voice heard about topics that are important to, join Youth Forum by filling in our Expression of Interest form: https://forms.office.com/e/BvRrssv2JG
