Somerset Council’s highways teams are resurfacing on Snap Hill near Charlton Mackrell next week.

The work is due to start on Wednesday 20 September and is expected to finish on Monday 25 September. The road will be closed between 6pm and 7am each night, excluding the nights of Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th. The road is expected to be open outside of these times and across that weekend to minimise disruption.

Due to the nature of the neighbouring roads, a long diversion will have to be used by HGVs while the closure is in force; there are some low bridges on the planned diversion route.

Councillor Mike Rigby, Somerset Council’s Executive Lead Member for Transport and Digital said: “The team are continuing with their resurfacing programme as we head into the final few weeks of the summer.

“This closure on the B3153 will only be in force on weekday evenings so that disruption is minimised; but we thank everyone in advance for their patience while this short-term closure is in place.”

Access for residents and businesses in the immediate area will be maintained throughout and a diversion will be in place, with full details available nearer the time on www.somerset.gov.uk/roads-travel-and-parking/roadworks-and-travel/.
