Tonnes of sand has been removed from Minehead’s main seafront road – and returned to the beach where it belongs.

A small team from Somerset Council’s Grounds Service was deployed to Warren Road to clear the sand that has built up along the sea wall, blown in by strong winds.

The team, helped by 2 tractors, weeded the sand before returning it to the shoreline.

Sand clearance normally takes place before the start of the summer holiday season but was delayed this year while the Environment Agency carrying out work on Minehead Beach.
