Somerset Council is reminding drivers that a section of the B3151 at Street will remain closed while developers work on access to a housing site off Somerton Road.
Diversions are in place to allow the works, including crossing improvements, a new junction and widening the existing road, to take place.
Somerset Council is working with the housing developers to try to minimise the inconvenience for motorists.
The closure will be in force until 9 September when temporary traffic lights will be installed from 10 September until 19 October to reduce disruption for road users.
The closure will be re-implemented from 20 October until 3 November, again with signed diversions in place.
Separately, the road will be closed between Burleigh Lane and Stallgrove Lane from 4-20 November with diversions in place.
