Somerset Council will be carrying out preparatory work, starting next week, in advance of resurfacing A38 Taunton Road, Bridgwater.

The initial work to address minor drainage issues will start on 26 January and is due to be completed on 30 January

Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 9.30am and 3.30pm and only when necessary for the safety of the public and workforce.

Resurfacing the road, between the junction with the A39 at Broadway and Rhode Lane, is due to start on 2 February with completion expected on 10 February. Work will only take place weekday evenings, from 6.30pm when the road will be shut.

A signed diversion route will be in operation during the closure and advance signs will be in place before resurfacing starts to make sure people are aware.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout for residents – there may be some restrictions or delays for vehicle access on occasion to some properties and residents should liaise with the site team on this.

Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Transport and Waste Services, Councillor Richard Wilkins, said:

The team will do their best to get the work completed as quickly and efficiently as possible – please do liaise with them if you are a resident and need to raise any issues around access.

We are extremely grateful to residents for their support and understanding while this work is done.
