Somerset Council will be resurfacing a key road in Taunton from next week.

Work on Honiton Road will start Monday 10 November, and is scheduled to be completed on Friday 21 November.

The road will be closed on weekdays only from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

While the road is closed, there will be a signed diversion via Blackdown Hill and Wellington.

During the closure, a shuttle bus funded by Somerset Council and operated by Hatch Green Coaches will serve the section of the 97 service between Canons Grove and Trull Stores.

Details on the bus will be available on the Hatch Green Coaches website.

Temporary lights will be in place outside of these hours, and the road will remain clear at the weekend.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout for residents, although occasional restrictions or delays for vehicle access to some properties may occur, and residents should liaise with the site team as needed.

Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Transport and Waste Services, Councillor Richard Wilkins, said:

The team will do their best to get the work completed as quickly and efficiently as possible – please do liaise with them if you are a resident and need to raise any issues around access.

We’re extremely grateful to residents for their support and understanding while this work is done.
