Somerset Council is advising residents that there may be delays to recycling collections this week due to a range of operational issues.

Today, 26 September 2025

Some residents in and around parts of Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury, Somerton, Castle Cary, Taunton and their surrounding towns and villages may have a delayed collection.

If residents’ recycling has not been collected on the day it is scheduled, they are asked leave boxes and bags out and crews will return the next day, this includes collections on Saturday 27 September – there’s no need to report it.

Crews will be working to try to make sure recycling is collected and will be working on Saturday if needed.

Households whose collections were missed yesterday (Thursday), will be collected today Friday 26 September.

If it’s been more than 24 hours and the recycling has not been collected, then residents should report a missed collection.
