Karen said:
“I am delighted to be joining Somerset and to have the opportunity to lead SEND Reform at such an important time.
“SEND is close to my heart, both through my professional experience and through my own family, as a parent and grandparent of children with SEND. These experiences have reinforced my belief that every child and young person deserves to be understood, valued and supported to achieve their ambitions.
“Having worked in Somerset previously, I know there is a strong commitment across the county to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
“What has impressed me most since joining the Council is the passion and determination of colleagues, families and partners who are working hard to make a difference.
“My ambition is to build on these strengths and work collaboratively with children, young people, families, schools, settings and partners to create a more inclusive system where every child and young person can thrive.
“I am looking forward to listening, learning and working together as we continue Somerset’s improvement journey.”
Welcome Karen!
