Taunton Garden Town

Garden Town status for Taunton represents a once in a generation opportunity to improve the lives of our community.

The former Somerset West and Taunton Council declared a climate emergency and this underpins the vision and themes in the Vision for Taunton as a Garden Town document, and will influence projects and initiatives as these are developed and rolled out.

The story so far

• 2017 – Allocated garden town status and funding
• 2018 to 2019 – Public consultation and engagement activity
• July 2019 – Vision document approved and adopted
• October 2019 – Design charter and checklist approved and adopted
