Coaches, motorcycles and motor home parking

Introduction

Some areas in Somerset have designated places for coaches, motorhomes and motorcycles.

You can park a motorhome or any vehicle on a residential street without restrictions, as long as it doesn’t block anything and has a valid MOT and road tax. However, in areas where you need a resident permit, there are size limits on vehicles.

Coach parking

• Tangier - Taunton, TA1 4AY – 6 bays
• Minehead – Mart Road, TA24 5BJ – 10 bays
• Doverhay, Porlock, TA24 8QA – 2 bays
• Dunster Steep, Dunster, TA24 6SE – 9 bays
• Harbour Road, Watchet, TA23 0AQ – 2 bays
• Longforth Road, Wellington, TA21 8RQ – 4 bays

Motorcycle parking

Designated marked motorcycle spaces are free in the car parks below.

• Wood Street – Taunton, TA1 1UP
• Orchard Multi-Storey (under the spiral) – Taunton,  TA1 3PF
• The Crescent  - Taunton, TA1 4ED
• Canon Street - Taunton, TA1 1SN Motorcycle bays are directly to the right of the entrance to the car park before the entry barrier into the main car park.
• Enfield - Taunton, TA1 4AS
• Whirligig - Taunton, TA1 1SQ
• Swain Street - Watchet, TA23 0AQ

If a motorcycle occupies a regular car space, it must display a valid parking ticket or PayByPhone.

Motorhome parking

Motorhome owners should use the Pay and Display car parks only.

When parking within pay and display locations if a motorhome takes up more than one parking space a Pay and Display ticket must be purchased for each parking space used. The PayByPhone parking service is not appropriate as it automatically takes payment for one parking space only.

Owners should note that Council byelaws do not permit sleeping overnight in car parks.
