We’re currently experiencing very high call volumes in the mornings. If your query isn’t urgent, you might find it easier to reach us later in the day.

Slinky is digital in Taunton and Wellington

This trial is a digital version of the Slinky on-demand transport service, known as Digital Demand Responsive Transport (DDRT), operating throughout Taunton and Wellington and the surrounding areas shown in the area information sheets below.

The ‘on demand’ service is a flexible bus service with no set route, provided for passengers who book in advance. The trial introduces a new simple way to book your journey using the new Slinky app.

Absolutely anyone can use this service, as long as you do not have access to a public bus service to make the journey.

How to register to become a Slinky digital member

Now that this service has gone digital, previous Taunton and Wellington members will need to register for the new service.

Registering is easy, just select one of the following options:

  1. Download the Slinky app by searching for ‘Slinky’ in your smartphone or tablet’s app store and follow the registration instructions.
  2. Or use the Slinky Booking webpage and select sign up.

If you are unable to use option 1 or 2, then you can register by phone on 01823 331266 between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Booking travel

If using the app or website, bookings can be made at any time – so no 9am rush to book!

Phone bookings can only be made during office hours Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm (excluding public holidays).

The service operates from 7.30am to 5.30pm.

The minimum booking notice required is 1 hour and can be made up to 2 weeks in advance of travel.

Bookings can be made for a maximum of 4 additional passengers on any trip.

App and website bookings can be prepaid. Onboard accepts either cash, contactless payment (debit or credit card).

Cancellations should be made as soon as reasonably possible. Cancellations less than 1 hour before the journey time will be charged the full fare. Cancellations over 1 hour in advance will have the fare credited to your account.

Taunton and Wellington Community Group Travel

Digitalisation of the Taunton and Wellington Slinky has resulted in the Dial-a-Ride service merging with the Slinky service, giving additional capacity to the Taunton and Wellington Slinky services.

For customers requiring bespoke group journeys, a separate service called Community Group Travel will be available to book, with prices available on request using the booking line number above.

This service operates 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).  Minimum notice period is 24 hours.
