The Park and Ride service
A bus service across Taunton that helps you beat the traffic
You can catch it anywhere on its route. You do not need to ‘Park and Ride’ to use it.
Fares are just £1 per journey.
The Park and Ride runs from two sites.
- Taunton Gateway – on the east of the town
- Silk Mills – on the west
The buses run on a loop between the two sites, picking up and dropping off at several stops in the town centre and at Musgrove Park Hospital. Please note the Taunton Gateway car park has a height restriction of 2 metres.
- Taunton Gateway (TA3 5LU) has 850 car parking spaces and is near M5 Junction 25. It is about 10 minutes from the town centre, and about 19 minutes from the hospital.
- Silk Mills (TA1 5AA) has 760 car parking spaces and is handy for drivers coming from West Somerset and for people who need to get to Musgrove Park Hospital which is about 7 minutes away. The town centre is about 13 minutes away.

The buses run every 20 minutes from Monday to Saturday.
From Taunton Gateway
- Monday to Friday 6.20am to 8.15pm
- Saturday 8.20am to 6.20pm
From Silk Mills
- Monday to Friday 5.50am to 7.45pm
- Saturday 7.50am to 5.50pm
Silk Mills and Gateway Park and Ride sites remain open to the public until 11pm from Monday to Saturday. This allows people to return and collect their cars using evening bus services.
- 1E Priorswood – Town Centre – Silk Mills (for Silk Mills)
- 30 Taunton – Chard – Axminster (for Gateway)
Both sites are closed to the public on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Latest updates
Temporary changes to Taunton Park and Ride services due to gas works.
Park and ride services from Taunton’s Silk Mills site will need to be temporarily rerouted from Monday 28 July 2025 due to ongoing Wales and West Utilities work in the area.
WWU are carrying out a major renewal of the gas mains in the Bishops Hull and Silk Mills area and Somerset Council is supporting this vital work.
Due to the need to close Mountway Road at the junction with Silk Mills Road (which will not be served during this period) from 28 July to 16 August for the next phase of works, buses operating from the Silk Mills Park and Ride site will need to be re-routed.
The alternative route from Silk Mills will need to be via Staplegrove Road and Tangier Way but due to time constraints, buses will not be stopping until they reach Musgrove Park Hospital, where they will follow the usual route into town, and on to the Gateway site.
Journeys from both Silk Mills and Taunton Gateway will be affected, so we would advise all users, particularly if you are heading into the town centre or to Musgrove Park Hospital to plan ahead and allow more time for your journey as the frequency of the service will be impacted during this period.
