Children and Young People’s Neurodevelopmental Partnership (CYPNP)
Communication and interaction, Health and wellbeing, Social, emotional and mental health difficulties
Description
We bring together Paediatrics, Paediatric Psychology, Children and Young People’s Therapy Service (Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy), CAMHS, Educational Psychology, in the East and the West of Somerset. We offer NICE compliant assessments for autism and/or ADHD, which are conducted by a multidisciplinary team. All children and young people who have been through the pathway will receive a detailed report explaining the outcome of the assessment. This is written directly to the young person in a strengths based and therapeutically informed way. Specific recommendations based on the young persons unique profile of strengths and areas of difference are made. This might include what local services may be able to meet the young person’s needs, advice for those supporting a young person to adapt their practice, or resources for the young person and parent/carer. We are seeking to understand a person rather than being a yes/no diagnostic service and is therapeutically informed.
We know that both families and professionals often have questions about referrals so can use the CYPNP Advice Line.
This line is open to parent, carers, young people or practitioners from health, education or social care.
Some of the things you can chat with the team about:
- The status of referrals made to the Children and Young People’s Neurodevelopmental Partnership (CYPNP)
- The potential sources of support that might be available to a young person whilst they are waiting for an assessment with our service
- If it would be appropriate to refer a young person to our service for an Autism or ADHD assessment
The advice line will not be able to answer questions about children who have already been seen by CYPNP. These questions need to be directed to the clinicians involved with the young person.
You can also find out more on the Autism and ADHD Pathway page, including options for children and young people older or younger or living in East Mendip.
