Description
Thrive (used to be called Community Council for Somerset (CCS)) are a charity who supports communities in Somerset to Thrive.
We believe that everyone living in Somerset should have access to the support they need to meet their basic needs in food, fuel, transport and health.
We want to enable change by listening, responding to need and building connections between people and communities.
Wherever you are in Somerset, we welcome collaboration to make our communities stronger.
Village Agents and Talking Cafes
Our Village Agent service supports anyone living in Somerset who is facing a worrying or tough time. This could be because of a number of reasons; health, finances, housing or feelings of loneliness and isolation.
We have a team of over 60 Village Agents who use their local expertise to advocate for people and their communities. They provide confidential, practical community-based solutions for you, wherever you are in Somerset.
Somerset Carers
You can receive support from Somerset Carers for free if are over 18 and you look after someone in an ‘unpaid’ caring capacity (not employed or self employed as a Carer).
We will do our utmost to ensure you receive the right support you need in your day-to-day life, by working with healthcare providers, and other local services to create a tailored, integrated package of care that works for you.
Community buildings
Village halls, town halls, church halls, and community centres are at the heart of Somerset life. We offer friendly, independent advice and practical support to the volunteers who run them.
Whether you’re new to managing a hall or looking to grow your impact we are here to help.
Somerset Diverse Communities
Somerset Diverse Communities supports people from ethnically diverse and marginalised backgrounds. We work closely with local communities, building trust and listening to lived experiences. Our goal is to work with communities, not for them – creating space for people to lead and be heard.
Type of provision
Universal - This is for everyone, including people with special educational needs and disabilities
