Description

Somerset Youth Volunteering Network, trading as ‘The Volunteer Network’ has been supporting young people since 1999. We exist to enable young people to develop new skills and abilities and to improve upon and make the most of their life chances. We currently engage with around 1000 young people each year and work in depth with 480 in a variety of different ways from short term advice and interventions to long term training and support. Each year around 40% of the young people with whom we work progress on to employment or further education and around 90% take positive steps towards improving their lives such as becoming housed long-term.

Our services cover:

  • Employability
  • Drug and alcohol awareness
  • Sexual health awareness
  • Citizenship
  • Food safety and healthy eating
  • Money management and personal budgeting
  • Youth and community work

We actively use volunteering and voluntary work to help young people to increase their engagement with their local communities and to improve their levels of confidence and self-image.
