Description
The Elms is a small home run by Somerset Council offering a short break only service, with provision for up to 6 young people overnight. The age range for those young people is 8 to 18 years old and of any gender. The children and young people we support will have a range of physical and learning disabilities. We have specialist equipment to enable us to meet their physical needs, and the staff receiving specific training to meet medical needs as well as social needs.
At The Elms our ethos is to provide children and young people with meaningful opportunities and experiences, that are fun, appropriate to support their development, and help them to thrive. This is achieved in a loving, homely, and safe environment.
For a child to stay at The Elms, a social worker needs to complete an assessment identifying the need for short break overnights. Find out more on our Children with disabilities page.
Type of provision
Specialist - Specialised support for a few people with more complex needs, usually after an assessment
