Somerset Council and Avon and Somerset Police will be carrying out compliance checks of street traders in Glastonbury this month.

The joint effort targets illegal street trading to make sure those selling items on the street have the right to do so.

Somerset Council Licensing Officers, accompanied by Police Officers will be conducting random checks on street traders and will ask for documentation to prove they have Street Trading Consent.

Those unable to provide the documents will be issued with a letter as a warning with advice on how to obtain suitable consent.

Somerset Council are not afraid to take appropriate enforcement action against anyone trading illegally.

Further compliance checks are due to take place in other towns across Somerset.
