Major surface repairs are to be carried out on Galmington Road in Taunton by Somerset Council’s highways team during the Easter holidays.

Inspections by the team identified the road was in a poor condition and in need of full-width carriageway patching with some deeper excavation needed where the road is significantly damaged.

There will need to be a full daytime closure between 8am and 5pm while the work is carried out from 3-14 April. This does not include the long Easter weekend or Bank Holiday. Access will be maintained throughout for residents.

Somerset Council’s lead member for Transport and Digital Cllr Mike Rigby said:

“We’ve scheduled this essential work during the Easter holidays to minimise the impact on road users, residents and of course avoid disruption for parents taking their children to and from school.

“It’s a really important scheme as repairs to this road are now a priority. Our workforce will ensure disruption is kept to a minimum, but we would suggest that you please plan ahead if you are in the area.

“We appreciate the vast majority of the public are considerate and respectful to contractors and we’re grateful for everyone’s patience and understanding. Please remember our team is there to carry out essential work to improve the network.”
