Introduction

The Employment Hubs are a free employment support service covering Taunton, West Somerset, Wellington and Bridgwater. Your pathway towards work.

Our friendly team can help you with:

  • guidance on opportunities for learning, training and work
  • confidence building and enhancing your skills to return to work
  • help with job searching, job applications, covering letters, CVs and interview skills
  • referral for further support, including IT support, apprenticeship advice, Citizens Advice, and positive mental health
  • links to volunteer work
  • identify any other barriers that stop you from progressing towards work
  • regular one to one support for as long as you need it.

We meet face to face, come and visit us to make an appointment or use the email below to arrange a time.

Locations and opening times

Victoria Park Community Centre
Victoria Park Dr, Bridgwater TA6 7AS (enter via main doors)— Open 10am to 12pm (every first Monday of the month).

Wellington Baptist Church
South Street, TA21 8NS — Open 10am to 12pm (every first and third Wednesday of the month).

The Beach Hotel
The Avenue, Minehead, TA24 5AP (enter via double doors to the right of the front entrance from the pavement) — Open 10am to 12pm (every second and fourth Tuesday of the month).

Williton Council Office
The Chamber, Killick Way, Williton, West Somerset,TA4 4QA — Open 10am to 12pm (every first Thursday of the month).

Taunton CHARIS Centre
16 – 17 Hammet Street, TA1 1RZ — Open 10am to 12:30pm (every first and third Tuesday of the month).

Stogursey Youth Club
TA5 1PR (next to the Victory Hall) — Open 10am to 12pm on a Tuesday once a month.

The Waffle Hub Community Cafe
Methodist Church, 35A College St, Burnham-on-Sea, TA8 1AS (every fourth Thursday. The first hub will be opened on 23 May 2024)

Volunteers needed 

Could you help and support people in your local community towards work? If the answer is yes, then we are looking for people to join our friendly team in a rewarding and varied support role, offering bespoke support and guidance to clients attending the hubs.

The Employment Hubs focus on offering one to one practical support such as resume writing, searching and applying for work, completing application forms, help with interviews and signposting to other agencies for further help and support.

As a volunteer you will have:

  • good basic administration skills
  • great communication skills
  • a friendly and approachable manner and enjoying meeting people
  • be comfortable filling in forms and using computer
  • the ability to build working relationships to support clients and the team

We will provide:

  • comprehensive training to enable you to carry out your role confidently and successfully
  • ongoing advice and support
  • flexibility
  • the opportunity to make a difference to individuals’ lives, the wider local community and support their local economy
  • the chance to enhance existing skills whilst gaining worthwhile experience helping others.
  • the chance to meet new like-minded people and be part of a friendly team who enjoy helping people.

If you can spare a few hours a month to support people in your local community on their pathway towards work, we have opportunities available in Minehead, Williton, Wellington and Bridgwater.
