Who else can help

  • Somerset Inclusion Advice Line 0300 123 2224
  • Talk to your child or young person’s class teacher, they may be able to offer support and advice. Every school has a SENCOand you can arrange to discuss your concerns with them
  • Childrens Autism Outreach Team (CAOT) provides up to 13 years of support for children and young people and their families with an Autism diagnosis
  • Children and Young People’s Therapy Service telephone advice line: 0303 033 3002 – Monday to Thursday 9am to 12pm
  • Speech and Language UK
  • NAPLIC – an organisation of teachers, speech and language therapists and other professional
  • RADLD – raising awareness of developmental language disorder
  • The Michael Palin Centre for Stammering – helps children and young people and adults who stammer
  • British Stammering Association
  • NAS – National Autistic Society
  • AFASIC – supports and provides information for families with children and young people who have speech language and communication needs with a focus on developmental language disorder (DLD)

Also refer to the Pre Assessment Pathway for Neurodiversity Interventions: Graduated Response which outlines possible interventions, which after careful screening for special education needs, should be implemented immediately rather than waiting for a possible diagnosis of autism or ADHD.
