Service disruption

From 29 August 2025, some of our services will not be working as usual. Here is what this means:

  • It will take longer to deal with all new council tax requests.
  • Some services will not be available during this time.
  • Our Customer Services team will not be able to make changes or handle claims during this time, but they can still give advice.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this disruption may cause. You can still use some services find out more on our Important notice for Mendip residents page.

The system should be back by mid-September 2025.

Introduction

You can pay your Council Tax in different ways.

  • by Direct Debit
  • over the phone
  • online
  • by bank transfer
  • by standing order

You can pay your Council Tax in 10 monthly payments between April and January.

You can also ask to pay your bill over 12 months between April and March.

Your payment must reach us by the first day of the month it is due, unless you pay by Direct Debit.

We will tell you the amounts you need to pay at the bottom of your bill. If you find it difficult to pay by the dates shown on your bill or want to check the amount you need to pay, you can contact us.

Important update about your account

From 29 August to 15 September 2025, your online account will not show the latest changes. You will only see information from before 29 August. This means your balance and payments will not be up to date.

Later in September 2025, we will launch a new customer portal where you can see all your council tax information.

When it is ready, we will share instructions on this page to help you log in and use it.
