Introduction

You can pay your Council Tax in different ways.

  • by Direct Debit
  • over the phone
  • online
  • via bank transfer
  • by standing order

You can pay your Council Tax in 10 monthly payments between April and January.

You can also ask to pay your bill over 12 months between April and March.

Your payment must reach us by the 1st day of the month it is due, unless you pay by Direct Debit.

We will tell you the amounts you need to pay at the bottom of your bill. If you find it difficult to pay by the dates shown on your bill or want to check the amount you need to pay, please contact us.

This service allows you to pay by Direct Debit, report a change of address for Council Tax, search for a Council Tax band, sign up for Direct Debit, view your Housing Benefits, view your Business Rates details, and search for a Business Rates Rateable value.

Paying by Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay your bill. It saves you time and effort. You can cancel at any time and are protected by the Direct Debit guarantee.

At the Post Office

Post Office Payment Cards – We will no longer be issuing new cards. You can keep using your current payment card until April 2026. Your next bill (usually sent in March 2026) will have a barcode you can use to pay at the Post Office or PayPoint. Find your nearest PayPoint.
