Coronavirus information

Check if you can get Tax-Free Childcare and 30 hours free childcare during coronavirus (COVID-19) on GOV.UK. You can also find out about temporary changes that may affect you if you’re applying for, or already getting, Tax-Free Childcare or 30 hours free childcare.

Parents who are usually eligible to access the 30 hours and tax-free schemes will continue to benefit from them this Summer term, even if their income level has fallen during the coronavirus outbreak. Check out the Childcare Choices website for more information

Funding for 2 year olds

Families with 2 year old children who meet the criteria can apply for funding for 2 year olds. We will pay for a place for up to 570 hours over the year at a registered childcare provider. A maximum of 15 hours per week is available. Children become eligible in the funding period after their second birthday.

Early years entitlement

All 3 and 4 year old children are eligible for the Early Years Entitlement for a maximum of 570 hours each year. This will start the funding period after your child’s third birthday.

Read more on our Early years entitlement page

30 hours extended entitlement

Working parents can claim the extended entitlement for an additional 15 hours making a total of 30 hours a week. Parents of three and four year olds will need to meet the criteria to be eligible for up to 30 hours a week funded childcare.
