Introduction
Weekly pop-up Youth Hubs take place across Somerset, giving young people a welcoming place to drop in, meet trusted adults and talk about issues that matter to them, including personal and community safety.
The hubs were created in response to feedback from young people who wanted more information, advice and support around staying safe, as well as clearer routes into local youth services and activities.
Whether you’re looking for guidance, someone to talk to, or simply a safe space to spend time, the Youth Hubs offer:
- Friendly and trusted adult support
- Advice and information about staying safe
- One-to-one mentoring opportunities
- Workshops and activities
- Relaxed spaces to meet, chat and connect
- Young people, parents and carers are all welcome to drop in for an informal conversation with the team.

What are the Youth Hubs aiming to achieve?
The Youth Hubs help bring young people, families and local communities together to make town centres feel safer and more welcoming. The key aims are to:
- Engage young people, parents, carers and the wider community in meaningful conversations about town centre safety.
- Raise awareness of issues affecting young people, including anti-social behaviour, knife crime, substance misuse, exploitation, violence and violence against women and girls.
- Signpost young people and families to local services, support and positive activities available in their area.
- Encourage stronger community connections and improve the reporting of safety concerns.
- Identify local risks and emerging issues through direct engagement with young people and communities.
For professionals
The Youth Hubs are delivered by Young Somerset in partnership with Avon and Somerset Police. The programme is funded by Somerset Council as part of the Somerset Violence Reduction Partnership and supported by the Safer Somerset Partnership, helping to create safer communities and positive opportunities for young people across Somerset.
We welcome wider partners to join youth hub sessions. If you are interested, please email: communitysafetyteam@somerset.gov.uk.
