What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that.
We are seeking an exceptional support worker, who can engage with children and their families/carers where a child is at risk of or being actively exploited. We know that child sexual and criminal exploitation is an increasing national issue and in Somerset we are building reflexive and responsive services that work at both a preventative level and intervene when a child is at risk of serious harm within the community.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be.
Working within Children’s services WAVE team (Working Against Violence and Exploitation) alongside Social Workers, Intervention Risk outside the home specialist, Family workers and misper workers. Your role will focus on working to provide one-to-one support to children who may be experiencing or at risk of exploitation. The role focuses on building trusting relationships and delivering targeted interventions that help children recognise and navigate risks outside the home, while promoting their safety and wellbeing. You will work alongside children to build their awareness and confidence, while acknowledging and addressing the harms that exist within communities. Through a child-centred, trauma-informed approach, you will support children to increase their safety and strengthen protective networks to help reduce the risk of exploitation and violence.
The perfect candidate will have excellent communication and organisation skills, as a key part of this role will be to submit intelligence and feedback to partner agencies to promote disruption.
You will need to be able to travel countywide to meet the requirements of this post.
