The Statutory SEND Team (Inclusion Somerset) is expanding and this is an exciting opportunity to join the team. The development of Inclusion Somerset within Children’s Services is continuing to develop in order to enhance the support which can be provided to Children and Young People (CYP) with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The Statutory SEND Team is looking for an Assessment and Review Officer to ensure that CYP who have SEND in Somerset have their needs met in a holistic way within their local communities and live the lives that they want to lead.
The Statutory SEND Team oversee a range of support to meet the needs of CYP in education aged 0-25 years. The team aims to improve outcomes and make a positive difference to the lives of children, young people and young adults with SEND, as well as their families. Provision of support is based on the SEND Code of Practice 0-25 and is interpreted alongside the school funding reforms of 2013.
Here's what you can expect to be doing
We are looking for Assessment and Review Officers to bring extra capacity to the team to ensure CYP with SEND receive an Education Health and Care Assessment and Review within a timely manner which meets their needs.
A few things about you
Excellent communication skills are essential as the role requires extensive communications with CYP, parents and a range of professional stakeholders. Experience of managing a busy caseload and working to strict time-frames would also be beneficial. A knowledge of SEND and excellent organisational skills are essential attributes, along with a positive mindset to embrace a challenging role.
The salary is Grade 12, ranging from £22,183 to £25,481 per annum.
