Description
Fur and Fields Farm CIC provides animal-assisted interventions and nature-based wellbeing support for children, young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), autism, ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), anxiety, low confidence, school avoidance and additional support needs.
Based on a peaceful rescue farm near Westbury, our service offers personalised, animal-led support designed to promote emotional wellbeing, confidence, communication, engagement, self-esteem, social development and emotional regulation.
We recognise that traditional educational, therapeutic and support environments do not work for everyone. Our sessions provide a calm, non-judgemental space where individuals can connect with animals, nature and trusted adults at their own pace. The presence of animals can help reduce anxiety, increase motivation and create opportunities for learning, reflection and personal growth.
Fur and Fields Farm CIC is led by a qualified Social Worker with extensive experience supporting children, young people and adults across education, mental health, domestic abuse, youth work and safeguarding services. This professional background, combined with animal-assisted approaches, enables us to provide safe, compassionate and person-centred support tailored to individual needs.
Support is tailored to the individual’s strengths, interests and goals and may include interaction with donkeys, alpacas, ponies, goats, sheep, rabbits and other rescue animals. Activities may involve animal care, feeding, grooming, sensory experiences, wellbeing activities, social skills development, confidence building, emotional literacy, problem-solving and opportunities to develop independence and life skills.
We welcome referrals and enquiries for individuals with a wide range of needs, including:
• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• ADHD
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)
• Anxiety and emotional wellbeing difficulties
• School avoidance and emotionally based school non-attendance
• Learning disabilities
• Additional communication and sensory needs
• Individuals who may benefit from alternative approaches to engagement and learning
Sessions are available on an individual or small-group basis and can be tailored to support outcomes identified by families, schools, SENCOs, social workers and other professionals. We work collaboratively with families and professionals where appropriate to help individuals achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
