Kelly’s Donkeys is a small, friendly alternative provision, based in Beckington, Frome. We have rescued donkeys, ponies, goats, sheep, rabbits and guinea pigs in a quiet, supportive environment in which children can thrive and feel at home. We offer equine-assisted therapy, as well as animal care groups, wellbeing groups, one-to-one or group SEND sessions and therapeutic riding sessions.
Our counsellor, Sarah, conducts one hour one-to-one therapy sessions, working with an animal chosen by the child. Sarah helps children with anxiety, trauma, depression, eating disorders and relationship problems. By providing non-judgmental comfort, animals lower cortisol and elevate oxytocin levels, building trust.
In addition to counselling, we offer one-to-one or group sessions in animal care. Jorja runs supportive, educational courses, tailored to each child’s needs and ability. Children can work through ASDAN courses at their own pace, or concentrate mainly on practical skills.
