Description
Lexia Education Services provides high-quality, face-to-face tuition tailored to children and young people with a wide range of needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health, neurodiversity, cognition and learning difficulties, and those who are Looked After.
Our provision is child-led and trauma-informed, recognising that engagement and progress are rooted in trust, consistency, and a deep understanding of each learner’s individual context. We work flexibly and responsively, adapting sessions to meet the needs of the child on any given day, particularly for those who may struggle to access traditional education settings.
Tutors and Teaching
All Lexia tutors are qualified teachers, carefully selected not only for their experience and subject knowledge, but for their ability to build meaningful relationships and positively engage vulnerable learners. All tutors hold enhanced DBS checks and receive regular training in safeguarding, Prevent, and first aid, alongside ongoing professional development through our annual training events.
Each programme is bespoke and outcomes-focused, aligned with the student’s Education, Health and Care Plan and individual academic targets. Tutors complete baseline assessments and continuously adapt their approach to reflect progress, engagement levels, and the child’s interests. For example, core skills such as maths may be delivered through practical, real-life contexts like cooking to enhance engagement and relevance.
We maintain a strong focus on accountability and safeguarding. Weekly tuition reports capture session content, attendance, engagement, behaviour, academic progress. These are shared with commissioners and families, ensuring full transparency. All records are centrally monitored, with any safeguarding concerns escalated immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, in line with our safeguarding policy.
Careful tutor matching is a key strength of our service. We consider both the needs of the learner and the strengths of the tutor to ensure the best possible fit. Where required, we act quickly to provide an alternative tutor to maintain continuity and quality of provision.
Services Offered
Our face-to-face tuition provides vital support for students who are out of education or struggling to engage in school. Sessions can take place in the home or within the local community, offering a flexible and accessible approach for learners who experience anxiety or require a more personalised environment.
Beyond academic support, our tutors play a key role in helping students to rebuild confidence, develop life skills, and re-engage with learning. For those working towards reintegration, we provide structured, step-by-step support to enable a successful and sustainable return to school or further education.
We offer Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English (Levels 1 and 2), alongside tailored programmes that support progression into the next stage of education, training, or employment.
Lexia works in close partnership with Local Authorities, schools, and families, acting as a reliable, responsive, and solutions-focused provider. We pride ourselves on our ability to mobilise high-quality tutors quickly, maintain consistent communication, and deliver provision that is both impactful and cost-effective.
Conclusion
Lexia has a strong track record of delivering high-quality, one-to-one tuition across multiple Local Authorities. We are recognised for our ability to provide experienced, qualified tutors at pace, supporting children and young people with both short-term interventions and longer-term, complex packages of care and education.
Our focus is not only on academic outcomes, but on enabling young people to feel safe, valued, and capable — empowering them to move forward positively in their education and wider lives.
