Managing behaviour as a Special Guardian

Information to help to manage your child’s behaviour

Overview

Some of our Special Guardians tell us that their child has behaviour which they can find difficult to manage.  It is important to remember that we offer training and more specialised interventions when necessary.

Some children may experience some of the following:

  • Anxiety
  • Self-harm
  • Sensory issues
  • Lying
  • Stealing
  • Aggression
  • Poor sleep
  • Toileting issues
  • Communication difficulties

If you are struggling to manage your child’s behaviour, please contact Kinship Care to ask for an assessment of support needs. Where specialist support is identified we can offer a range of interventions and courses to provide you with the knowledge and skills to help you to care for your child.
