Feeding back on the Local Offer

We love hearing from you. Without insightful feedback we don’t know what you want us to improve. We really want to make this site work for you.

You will find a link at the end of each page where you can tell us if there is a problem with information or if something isn’t working properly.

Awareness

Parent carers said the site is really helpful and they wish they had been told about it sooner. In response, we

• have shared a template letter and booklet for schools to send out for navigating SEN Support, and improved signposting in our EHC plan process letters
• are attending meetings of professionals such as SEND Network Groups and Early Years SENCO Networks
• are developing a social media resource pack for partners to share key pages

We know that parent carers may look at information at the beginning of a process but, because things can take time, they may not return to see new updates. This means they may miss support available. In the meetings above, we make sure professionals are aware of any changes and encourage them to pass these on to families both starting the journey and already part‑way through.

Navigation and information overload

Parent carers said there is too much information that is hard to navigate. With both too much to read and gaps in information.

We have been changing the menu and page titles, so they are easier to understand by non-experts. This also means they can be signposted easier from other areas.

We are now working on:

• Health
• Social care

We are updating text to reduce the reading age of key pages. This includes shortening long sentences.

We are developing a new format for displaying long documents. This should improve flow when information is detailed.

Some parents have told us they did not realise that extra information sits inside the ‘navigate this page’ dropdown when using a mobile. We have worked with the Support Group Forum to help spread the word, so families know to tap this menu and find the helpful related pages and links.

This also helps prevent the ‘dead ends’ some people experience on topics where partner services host more detailed information than we do, such as mental health. So families can more easily reach the support they need.

Broken links

Feedback forms are used mainly by people to tell us of broken links.

We have a program that tells us if there are broken links and if the webpage no longer exists. This is so we can try to make sure this does not happen. But this process will not tell us if the linked-to webpage still works and no longer has the content we told you it has.
