Benefits of Swimming
Swimming offers many health and wellbeing benefits. It can:
- improve muscle strength and definition
- build bone mass
- increase flexibility
- reduce inflammation
- burn calories
- support social interaction
Somerset Council’s Housing, Health and Wellbeing team promotes these benefits. They also highlight the importance of water safety from an early age.
This support encourages residents to use public swimming pools, attend lessons, and join water-based exercise classes.
