What happens if more support is needed

Once your education setting has completed the Assess Plan Do Review cycle, they may decide that referral to Occupational Therapy is needed if things have not improved. Parent carers and professionals can contact the advice line to find out what steps to take next.

A referral form will be completed to show what has been tried and what impact it had, which will be triaged. This assesses whether the level of need a pupil is demonstrating meets the relevant criteria for support. To meet the service criteria, the child or young person will need to have significant functional difficulties with everyday activities.

If the referral is accepted you will be offered the sensory pathway which offers advice around how to support your child.
