What happens if more support is needed
If things do not improve using support in the Assess Plan Do Review cycle, the education setting may decide to refer your child to Occupational Therapy.
You or your child’s setting can also contact the advice line for guidance on next steps.
If you have any enquiries about referrals, please email CYPTherapyService@SomersetFT.nhs.uk
Referral to Occupational Therapy
A referral form will be completed. This explains:
- what has been tried
- what has helped
- what is still difficult
The form is then reviewed by the therapy team.
Accepting referrals
The team will look at the referral and decide if the service is right for your child.
To get support, your child will need to have significant difficulties with everyday activities.
If the referral is accepted your child will be offered support through the sensory pathway. This will give you advice on how to support your child at home and in their setting.
