Somerset Council is inviting anyone looking for information, advice or support about health and social care to a free event at Crewkerne Community Hospital, Middle Path, Crewkerne, Somerset, TA18 8BG, on Friday 16 October. The event is open to everyone and will run from 10am to 3.30pm.
Visitors will be able to have a mini health check and speak face to face with representatives from Adult Social Care, NHS Somerset, the Financial Assessments and Benefits (FAB) team and Somerset Independent Living Centres (SILC). People in the Crewkerne area who are on the waiting list for a Care Act Assessment are also being contacted and invited to attend.
Other organisations attending to offer information and guidance are:
More voluntary and community organisations are being invited, with further attendees to be confirmed closer to the event.
People in the Crewkerne area who may benefit from a Care Act Assessment or Carer’s Assessment will be able to find out more and discuss the next steps with staff at the event.
Councillor Sarah Wakefield, Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Adults Services, Housing and Homelessness, said:
Knowing where to turn for health and social care support can feel daunting. This free event offers a friendly place for people to ask questions, meet local organisations and find out what help is available.
By bringing services together in one place, we hope residents can get clear information and feel more confident about their options. I would encourage anyone who may benefit, or who supports someone else, to come along and speak to the teams.
The event brings health, care and voluntary organisations together in one place, giving residents an opportunity to ask questions and find out what support is available locally.
There is no parking at Crewkerne Community Hospital, but a drop-off area will be available for visitors.
For people looking for more information about adult social care who cannot attend on the day, there is a step-by-step guide on the council’s website. The council also held a series of webinars covering the most frequently asked questions about social care last year, which is available to watch on the council’s YouTube channel.
